Nice to find the site. Think I was here a number of years ago, but not sure.
I'm a semi-retired professional Helicopter Pilot who has worked all over the world. I've been involved with MD for years, but not regularly, and not at all for the last eight years.
I own a Garrett GTI 2500. Old version with Treasure Talk, and do NOT intend to have the circuitry changed. I also have the Treasure Hound with it, though it has only been used once since owned. Three coils, two of which are imaging. Stlll in Like-New condition!
My interest has recently been regenerated as my 10-year-old son has taken a massive interest in treasure hunting. He got a cheapo detector for XMAS just to see if the interest would last, and it has in spades. So...he doesn't know it yet, but he will shortly be receiving an early Birthday Present of a Garrett ACE 300!
I will also be adding an AT MAX and a SuperSniper coil addition. That way, if my wife ever gets interested, we can make it a full family hobby, as well as me having use of the AT for trashy areas and fencelines. (The 2500 is too wieldly and heavy to use a sniper on it, I think)
My wife is an Active Duty Colonel in the US Air Force. (I'm a former Army Officer). We currently live in Senior Officer Housing on Eglin Air Force Base in the Ft. Walton Beach, Florida Panhandle. My son and I will be doing some serious coinshooting as soon as he gets his 300. The exciting thing is that they have been tearing down ALL of the old Capeheart style housing on the base, and most of those were built in the late 50's to early 70's. New, modern housing is being built, but in a different area than where the old homes stood. All that remains in very large areas of the base are foundations! Should be prolific, undisturbed, and virgin hunting with lots of potential silver! We have to work quickly though, because my wife is taking a senior command at Tinker Air Force Base in Oklahoma this summer, so we'll be moving (again...sigh) and will have to do new research for productive hunting.
Having perused the forum here, I am sure I have found the right "spot" for our interaction with fellow hobbyists and professionals. Nice to know there is a place to get real answers to questions without hype!
