I don't know if the little guy ever had a chance in New Mexico. (unless the laws changed after we had this episode).

There was a time that, if you made a discovery in New Mexico, and filed for a claim - New Mexico took your information and then auctioned the claim off to the highest bidder.

They haven't been a really good friend to the small miner.
