In the Allegany region which includes 3 parks (Allegany, Long point and Lake Erie) you are required to buy a permit for $10. and it is only good from Sept 15 thru May 15. Theres no hunting in between. Check with your local park office for details. They can mail you the application to be filled out. Good luck!!!!!

The state parks around WNY are for beach hunting only. No detecting in the water or any other areas of the parks. That does not include Allegany. In Allegany you can go in the water and most other areas of the park. The permit is $10. The other park permits are free, but you have to call to have them sent to you. They're good from April 1 - May 26 and Sept. 6 - March 31. Here's an number you can call for them, (716) 773-3271.

I think im most parks you need the permit. if you call NY parks and rec. they can give you more info and i think you can buy a permit for all parks for one price. not sure though. also each park has its own rules as to where you can MD. ;D
