Alright, find of the century, for me anyway, the way my luck has been lately. I don't think much of anything was really 'ceremonial' in purpose. Maybe some effigies and some religious artifacts. I do believe that some things had a lot more work put into them to show off status and make you look good at social functions. Chicks dig it. I would still like to have been there when the first guy chipped a point out of clear quartz to see what everybody else thought! Great find, congrats!

Incredible find! It is Wonderful to have such variety on the banner right now--Killer jewelry, gold, The key-date Mercury dime, a fantastic and valuable glass find, and this beautiful artifact. Bravo to the moderators for selecting such a diverse mix.

A BIG congratulations to you, larson.

Best Wishes,

Congratulations on your find and making Banner. You have shown some great artifacts from the field you lease to farm. This piece is another fine example of your collection. I look forward like you to hopefully learn more about its design. Good job spotting that one.

Awesome find larson and congrats on making the banner...Seems to me, my brother found a hammer/axe a couple of years agothat I remember thinking, "What were they going to do with this?" Not the same shape as yours and the groove went all the way around, but similar in that it didn't show any signs of use and was very thin or a lot thinner than most of the hammers/axes we find. I'll try to find/get a picture. Thanks for all the great postings.

This is a picture of the axe (lower, left corner) I was talking about. This is a picture I took
with a number of other hammers/axes, so I don't have a close up. But if you take a
look at the other axes and hammers in the picture you can see how much thinner it
is than a hammer and how the ends are rounded instead of tappered like an axe.
