Found in Middle Tennessee

I was excited with this find. Fire starter rock??
The photo is deceptive. The rock is about 7 inches long and 3 inches tall and appears to have a thumb rest for gripping.

Does the hole go all the way through?,maybe a start to some kind of hardstone artifact...

It doesn't go through and is probably about an inch deep. One person thought it may have been used to hold the spinning stick during bow and drill method of fire starting.

Possibly as im sure the ancients had many different fire starting methods.
