I have 2 that I've found. One has slight damage. I think freezing and thawing breaks a lot of em. they tend to be thin around hole. I'll dig mine out and get a picture soon. HH

I have found 9 bannerstones, all broke across the hole. I found one complete banner and it was dug up by a backhoe, most likely from below the freeze zone. It however was also very small - 2 inches - and made from Ohio Pipestone, see circled in pic. Happy Hunting !

Two for me, both in NJ and one was a whale tail banner and perfect except for the scratch i put in it from the rake i was using. Plus a fluted shield banner with pole damage. I also found a perfect whale tail banner that was almost finished. It had both blades like in the pic i showed you and it had the start of the drill holes on both sides. I would show you them but i no longer have them.

I have found a couple broken pieces but never a whole one and I don't know of any being found in my area. Here is one I picked up at the Flea Market for next to nothing.

I have a few from RI, but others found them. I like this unfinished banner, which was found in 2 pieces in 1887.
Reminds me of a lug nut....

Here is the only whole one that I have found. It was laying on a gravel bar in the Flint River here in Southwest Georgia. It sure shows a lot of water wear!

I have a broken one that was made out of some really nasty material down in the southern part of Florida.

Speaking of North Carolina... I believe this piece of rayholite to be a preform.

I've never seen that one either. Lol! I really do think that is a preform also Gator. I found that piece on an old camp or village. Well, on the outskirts of the village, near water. It wasn't found in the same "landscape" so to say, as I find axes around here. It may have been tied on?? I'm thinking more preform. I'm glad a part of me made it to Fl. Regardless of what it may be!!

Gator that may be a butterfly preform. It does have the shape but I think it is more likely a guilford axe.

I thought axe when I first looked at the shape.. It shows no use wear on either end and his keeper on an angle so that if it were used as an axe it would cut crooked.
