Went out for an hour on Sunday. My eyes must be getting worse because I walked over a small stretch multiple times without finding anything. I gave up and decided to go back. As I walked out I found this point laying where I had crossed probably 4 or 5 times. Makes me wonder how many I have missed.

Maybe?..not sure, but 2 or 3 other points from same 20 yard area are very similar in shape...best I can ID is Big Sandy...maybe I should create a new type...."Small Sandy!"

The notches and the base look different from a Big Sandy to me could this be a Rowan. It's a nice find for sure and very easy to walk over:thumbsup:

Yes TN...it is one of the nicest made points I have found in some time. It is the first one I've found that I think the base might actually be ground...it seems smoother with no sharp edge...so maybe?...Thanks for the input Rock and Monster...and Yakker I had my contacts in, but it didn't seem to matter!

i would call it a Palmer. It looks more corner notched, than the classic side notched Big Sandy. I have always believed that Palmers were extremely worn out Kirks. JMHO

Thanks for the input guys. I'm not sure what it will finally be labeled, but I will say that I have found a few others nearby with the same basic shape and size and even material. Either way, I figure it is pretty old since lots of the points from this area that fit that archaic era have a similar base with lobes.
