...so...found this yesterday while looking for my usual "small" stuff. Looked at it closer and thought it just might be something, so wanted to check with you "pro's"....it looks worked on one whole edge and smooth on the other.....OK to be brutal, I can take it.....;)

Looks like something they took flakes off of for making various things, and then it made a nice chopper, scraper, and graver imho.

I have a piece really similar to yours. I have always thought mine was a hafted tool. Maybe a flaked Celt or something.??

Yup- Quito got it-- but as well as being a core of sorts, I think it could also be a hand-chopper like olroy said. It's hard to re-adjust your eyes to see things of a different size/shape than you're used to. Good find! Yakker

There is just so many different colors in this area to look for when hunting. Most is black flint and white quartz but then you have all the grays and the rest. I dont find hardly any green but have found some.

...rock you should post the green ones all together, if you haven't already? You can put them here but maybe want to start a new post on them? When I go looking it's easier to see the sherds & obsidian points/tools..but very hard to see the "rock" ones, cause there's rocks everywhere..very :icon_scratch: !

IMO it's like a hand chopper/scraper combo. Choppers are simple cutting, hacking, or "chopping" tools used for meat or wood. Yours is a bi-facial form (flaked on both sides). Do you know what the material is? It looks like basalt to me.
