The Crow Indians are originally from central and eastern Montana, and do not believe there is a Tennessee River here in Montana.
Your items in your photo's do not look like authentic Indian artifacts

Has your grandpa ever found anything there? Try looking for pottery shards more than the stone type stuff and since the land was part of a treaty and was ceded to settlers you might find colonial type stuff too. I can't tell if what you have so far is Native American. Google images of pottery shards/sherd of the Cherokee and if there is a museum there with Native American artifacts in it go check them out so you can train your eyes. That was a large area and they may not have camped all over it so you might try upstream too. But my advice, since I creek hunt, is that wherever you find modern glass then focus there for old shards and if the stone stuff is there eventually you will find it too, that has been my experience. Good luck!

The piece with the red dot looks modern to me but prolly pretty old...I find them and keep them hoping to find other pieces to fit them together. I'm not good on stone stuff but the large one might be something I don't know and not sure about the others.

Yes, my grandpa said that when my mom was little he let her girlscout group look for artifacts after he had the pond dug out, but at the time they didn't know what to look for.... my mom actually hot glued her finds to a piece of cardboard

Those are authentic rocks, my friend! ;) Stone changes color for a variety of reasons. So the one cracked open? I've seen those before. Coulda been cracked open a while ago- when black flint ages, it gets a white look to it, and lots of sedimentary rock looks like that inside. The others are different types of cobble- like river cobble. Whether or not there's a river nearby, there may have been once. You can find river cobble in all sorts of crazy places you wouldn't expect. Grim knows of what he speaks. And if he's not sure, he'll tell you that too. Keep looking- that's a cool set-up yopu got there by that water- I'd be hanging out there all the time ;) Yakker

Sorry if I came off as rude old digger. I envy you alls knowledge!

Thanks you for the info Yak! Im glad you like "the spring" I spend every extra second down there.. its ab 50 yards behind my house but it took 27 years for me to appreciate it! Soo much history in that area. I would post all my pics but I dont want to be that guy..the picture of my spring house was taken in front of my fire pit.. and above the fire pit is where those rocks came from. . If that helps at all

Are you talking about Battle creek in Sweedens cove? That is where it looks like from your pics.

Cherokee were a late comer actually before them Chicasaws then there was appalachiola, choctaw, seminole, creeks, yuchi. They only have names because of contact with whites who gave them names as close as they could. Many tribes combined and absorbed each other when the whites came. There are more I am sure that I am missing .Archeologist will call some tribes flat heads here and so forth.
Everyone thinks of Cherokee in this area because of the Trail Of Tears and the written Cherokee language (Cherokee: ᏣᎳᎩ ᎦᏬᏂᎯᏍᏗ Tsalagi Gawonihisdi) is the Native American Indian Iroquoian language spoken by the Cherokee people. But cherokee in an archeological time line are not that significant. But they were a brilliant people and their brilliance was their threat and demise in Tennessee.
So are you in Sweedens cove?

You sound young. I had a farm there and know every cove and person there. Water blows out of the mountains which are full of caves. Why your rocks look like something but are not. You should easily find artifacts as long as you have permission so you do not get shot. I was there yesterday and will be Saturday. This thread has run its course come back and post when you find some artifacts.Good luck!
