It's in pretty rough shape likely due to very damp conditions. It is in the process of rotting away from the inside out. It looks like a "phalanges bone (think I spelled that right) of a Deer probably. It is the densest bone in the anatomy of a deer. They can survive for thousands of years in the ground under the right conditions. In the pictures below are two that I recovered just below the plow line next to a prehistoric fire pit in a field. The source for this information is from the resident archaeologist at the state mounds museum here where I live and was related to me years ago while showing him the ones I found. They were commonly utilized by Indians as tools, he added.

Google search Lithic artifacts and images. I in my eternal hunt for rocks started to see exactly these shapes and others repeated so much that I began to suspect an earlier group then the intricate arrowheads found. It seemed I was the laughing stock of my local hunting community. Yet still I searched and found more evidence and saught knowledge or similar accounts. Making slow progress. Today I and my group are elite and for thevvast knowledge of all rocks touched by the hand of man. We nap as well which help s disce real worked items. Some tips also. Symmetry appears little naturally except crystal formations. Keep like shapes together(2-20+) for no repeated shape is a rock that "just broke that way" (twentyvrocks all broke naturally the sane way in diff local) lol if they did keep them anyways for their a statistical anomaly. Stay focused and pace yourself because there early shapes are sign of early man site and you will find better finds both intricate and simple. But its only until you find two of shape that you even know it was something. Keep suspects in a sep place. Know these pieces can be identified as Right or Left handed. Will never be excepted fully . I call this Sight Pealeo Eyes. S blessing and curse. Not for beginners if can be helped for they are not ready. But to some elevated in skill it can further your all around total skill in "The Eternal Hunt"
