Well even though they fit together some collectors will find them apart but then put them together later. You hardly ever find them together as a actual match. On the bowl and again I am not trying to discredit your purchase so just take it lightly and consider it. In the bottom of the bowl it looks pitted all of the mortars I have found are smooth in the bottom if it was used for a long period of time. It looks like a geode that has been broken in half to me which Im sure they would of taken advantage of to. The ball could of been used but imo probably as a pecking stone and not a grinder due to the pits in it. Still would look cool sitting on a shelf together. Hopefully somebody will see it differently. rock

I did show it to my neighbor who is or was an archeologist and is the museum curator at Mt.holyoke collage. He said it's exactly what he would expect to find. He said he would try to find more information about the sight. HH BK
