No one really knows. The majority believe it was a type of weight or counter balance for the atalatl; a long bore stick with a point attached used for hunting mega fauna. I think the aformentioned is rubbish. It was worn in the hair.

In fairness I thought it was huge until you mentioned the possibility of wearing it in the hair.

I looked up what some of the spear throwers used, and I have to admit that it does quite likely resemble a bannerstone atlati weight.

Of course I've only been an expert on this topic for 30 seconds so what do I know? LOL.....

that is a wonderful banner stone,im glad there are rich ones like you so us poor dreamers can see more stuff to dream about...oh im supposed to wake up now,naw,im going to keep dreaming about finding one of those

This is certainly a very odd find.

I'd love to see what this is.

I do disagree with putting the statement "Banner" in the title though

Something like this must be viewed by others first, allow us to nominate finds...

Otherwise you're throwing only your opinion in - your expectations.
"Banner" as in banner-stone, a type of artifact.
