An old timer at the beach I frequent shared his box of points with me the other day. He has lived in this very rural spot for 40 years or so and being the only permanent resident among a few beach hunting cabins he has amassed one hell of a collection. I am typing them for him by style, material, date range etc. His points range from transitional paleo to historic..so maybe an 8 or 9 thousand year span...all found essentially in front of his house.

But one point stands out like a six foot blond in downtown Tokyo. PNW points are well known for their amazing variety of lithics and color but this one....boy Howdy!

it is a carnelian agate, a common material on the coast, but not usually as nice as this one.
