A buddy and I went to check one of our Steelhead creeks this morning. We didn’t see any fish but along the edge of a farm field I happened to see flakes. My friend has never looked for points before but we avidly fish and forage mushrooms together. He took to it and soon he was picking up chert flakes all over. He happened to find the broken tip. Likely a spear or drill. I found what are likely net weights. One may have been a hafted hammer stone. It looked like they were tossed to the side and rain washed! The flatter one was untouched in situ. The round one I picked up first and couldn’t believe my eyes! I found a couple of other hard stone hide softeners too, one broke. No fish for us but we found ancient fishing implements! I am well satisfied!
