2 1/2 by 1 3/8 Serrated Kirk found by me in Pasco County Florida. This was soaked in mineral oil which really brought out the colors, I don't have any pictures of it unsoaked but it is still colorful just not too this extreme. I'm guessing costal plains chert. This will be my last "Sunday Artifact " post, from now on I'll just post these whenever. Thanks for all of you that looked and showed interest.

Wow.

Do you think this was used as a hunting point, or worn around the neck...used as an adornment of some type?
Seems like this type of material would be somewhat rare to come across and was probably valued?

Maybe if the material was special the gods would guide it to the target?

Good question Digger, all I know is that I would hate to be on the receiving end of it. I've found a good bit of artifacts of this type of material but not like the color patterns of this. I think the maker took time with this and probably was pickey about the material he or she used.

Love it. A true artist made it. No doubt he viewed it as art/treasure.

That is one of the most beautifully colored points that I have ever seen. Congrats on a great one.

Amazingly nice.

Heated ? Or raw ?

I think heat treated. This is what it looked like when I dug it up, my jaw dropped. When it dried out it still looks good but the colors faded. I soaked it many years ago in mineral oil just too keep the look when I first saw it.
