Sorry computer screwing up.
Try a Garrett ace 250,it's about $215,get a pro-pointer too, about $125 and get a shovel, and then watch all the videos on the Ace,on Youtube and maybe make yourself a test garden in your backyard.Good luck and Happy hunting:icon_thumleft:

I think the best way for you to get started is find someone with at least a basic knowledge of the hobby to guide you thru the initial pitfalls...it's hard to figure out on your own what is best for your needs. The more advice you have to choose from - the better decisions you can make until you can figure it out for yourself. Visit a club or two - I think there's one in Durham and another in Apex. The ones in my area aren't pushy about getting you to join up and if you do decide to join dues are cheap. Folks there will be happy to share their experience with you and probably be willing to take out with them (at least once or twice). If you want to come to Charlotte I'll let you use my backup machine and show you enough to get you started. In the meantime if you have questions pm me and if I don't know the answer I'm pretty sure someone I know will.

Hey bigred,

I'm new as well, and in Cary (near US 1).

Let me know if you've found any good places for hunting.

Thanks,
- Kevin
