Hazardous county dams soon to receive money for repairs

The state is making a “historic investment” to protect its residents and communities from the threat of an unsafe, high-hazard dam failure.

Last week, Gov. Ed Rendell signed Senate Bill 2 which provides $35 million for repairs and upgrades to 66 municipal and state owned unsafe, high-hazard dams.

The seven unsafe, high-hazard dams in Schuylkill County are the Lower and Upper Owl Creek reservoirs in Tamaqua, Ringtown No. 5 Reservoir, Shenandoah, the Schuylkill County Municipal Authority’s Mount Laurel (Mud Run) Dam, Kauffman, Indian Run and Pine Run reservoirs, according to Michael Smith, director, Office of Communications, Department of Environmental Protection.

I should keep my dam inside info to myself and be the first one there but
I am not like that.
Sources have told me that they have moved the silt barriers to the site.
So the dam project will be soon.
