Went detecting at an area park. Was leaving and noticed this historical marker. Pretty impressive IMO.

I used to hang out with friends in Wilkes-Barre and Hazleton. I miss the area and friends I had there.

Neither place is the same as you remember probably. Crime has seeped into both cities....big city problems have migrated.

That's unfortunate. I heard a few years ago the Hazleton's mayor got in a physical altercation with someone right in his office. There was some corruption back then in the school board. I know they used to call it "Mob Town" and some said the Philadelphia "mob" guys used to retire to Hazleton. I don't know it that's true or not.

If it was true, I don't think they would allow the illegal immigrant crimes that have plagued Hazleton lately. They'd want it quiet I think.
