Tin, not sure but could be two sides press together; button
holder on back is gone, half of back rusted off, seems to
be some sort of material inside, a filler.

1 inch across, 1/8 inch thick; thickness says off of more
than a shirt; seems like it would be jacket size.

Photo has had extra light added, very dark without. Traces of
a reddish color, I think, show up more with light altered.

Has inscription, "ROMA XXVI".
So it's Roma 26.

Farmers field find.

Found some info here:http://www.arcanestudios.com/buttons.htm
but tells me nothing of the button.

Any ideas?

all have a good un..

Did you happen to find out anything on this? I have something similar that I found except the one I found is a clasp or buckle of some sort and it appears to be copper or tin I am not sure. The interesting part is I found this on my fathers 60 acer farm in coastal North Carolina that was a homestead in the early 1800's. If you have any information on this please contact me.
