Found this button this morning at an old farmstead/tannery. It has what seems to be an old solder mark where a shank had been but appears someone punched two holes in it to make it a sew on. It has 5 notches cut into one edge and has "v" design around the circumference and a sunburst of what appears to be wheat in the center. Any help would be awesome!!

Jesse,

Nice old colonial button I'd say probably mid 1800's or earlier.....let's see what the button experts have to say.

I was thinking the same but the notches and holes punched in it is throwing me off.. I'm very curious about the notching. Maybe it was a hunter or trapper marking his harvest. Who knows..
