Don’t think so with the little leg. It was the 1st thing I thought of. Always possible but I really doubt it. Note the unusual ornate design. Hand forged as well.

I'm not familiar with guns that old....It does remind me of a door latch/ handle. The latching part would click over that leg. It's just an off the wall guess....But the bottom or front part does look like a trigger guard. :dontknow:
