found button with three lions on it

I do not have a camera right now------ but i was metal detecting in my brothers back yard in Dubuque, Iowa and found a button with three lions on it, ,two large lions on the outside and a smaller one between them and a large crown on top of small lion, writing under small lion , small lion is centered on a square with horizontal lines. Seems to be made out of copper ? with metal backing rusting now. I looked all over the internet looking up American/ British buttons {revolutionary , war of 1812, and later years } At one time Dubuque was under the Spanish, French, British and American flags. The button is the size of a quarter Any help would be greatly appreciated.------------- Billy Ruff

Three lions usually represent England. Your button sounds like a modern blazer button, certainly nothing early.
