Watch your color contrast dear.. the first two images seem to be washing out with an orange/pink haze.. Better lighting is needed.

Thanks all...StoneWisperer, I put the agate on a piece of "Pink" paper, for a pretty picture...that is the true color of the stone. That last pic is a bit washed out though.

Don't get upset dear just trying to hep take better pictures.. try selecting a neutral back ground for your stones.. although white is the most common colors for a back drop, many try black which it the worse type of backdrop. Unless carefully master with lights.. and the subject is actually lifted off the black surface/suspected even.. Black draws light in and doesn't allow it to escape.. what as while bounces light off everything. and mirrors are even worse, If the subject actually placed on the mirror. Using a mirror if you don't have an extra light source. the mirror reflects light or redirects what light you have bee it natural or fixed. Spot lighting the subject is another alternative.. this is where you've suspected the subject one a neutral background but all your light is focused on the subject and not the area around the subject. With the neutral background.. the camera is forces to see what it right in front of it.. the stone where as black or white backgrounds tend to fool the camera from properly adjusting to or fixing the focal point to the stone. At this point your prob say.. what?? Yeah I know wife does the same thing.. just sounds like blah blah blah to her.
