I.D. HELP PLEASE

While I love to collect rocks/minerals here in Southern Oregon, I've come to realize I still know so very little.
This rock is solid, and quite heavy. My friend found this in her mother's garden a very long time ago after her mother passed away.
Would like to find out what it actually is.

Appears to be a water worn cobble primarily quartz though it may be agate seeing as it appears to have some banding. It would probably take a good polish :) Try wetting it and seeing how the colors turn out. A nice piece for the rock garden and I was probably picked up for its shape and color.
