So my girlfriend just noticed this rock from our first pick. IMG_0229.JPG IMG_0231.JPG In the direct sunlight we just thought it was just purple, maybe amethyst, but then today inside we noticed it has a very distinct light blue, almost aqua streak going parallel to the purple streak. What could this be?

It can be scratched with quartz, and doesn't seem to be able to scratch or be scratched by a fluorite piece I have. Hope that helps and thanks for any ideas!

Most likely its a fluorite itself. Not uncommon for them to have multiple colors and your hardness test makes me fairly positive.

Thanks guys! I guess we're gonna have to go through our finds again in less intense light!
