I had held a small propane torch on it for about 10 minutes and it got red but did not melted. Had a harmful smell to it. Looks like some kind of metel ore
Galena is among the most recognizable and unmistakable of minerals-- very cubic, black, very heavy, and (if you've got an ohmmeter) electrically conductive. Geological setting most often intrusive precipitated by carbonate host rock.
If you have to ask, it's not galena. You asked, therefore it's not galena. If it's extremely heavy and found in a lead-producing region, it may be some other lead mineral.
