This piece was found in North East Connecticut in my yard three to four inches below ground.A few years ago ground was excavated for new foundation. The piece measures 5" to 6" wide by 7" to 8" long.Looks like a metallic color material for the most part.Has a mark on top left of piece UR and 135 is incorporated in it. To the the side of markings is a AD mark too.Any information on this piece will appreciated and educational. Sal

Do you ever think there were more people that came to the Americas not just native Americans living here like the Mohegans or Pequots. How about the viking or Phoenicians just to mention a few that left markings and stone structures like America Stonehenge in salem,New Hampshire.

Yes, I have. In fact I was, for many years, a RI research coordinator for the New England Antiquities Research Association, which, as you may know, is involved in that very research. I am also the person, along with two colleagues, who stumbled across what is now known as the Narragansett Runestone, in 1985, and I published the first article on that possible Norse feature, making it known to the world of scholars interested in such things. That stone is now on permanent display in the village of Wickford, RI, just a few miles from it's original find spot on Narragansett Bay.
So, to answer your question, yep, very familiar with all that. But, the marks on your stone are still natural.

Here is a photo I took the day we dedicated the Narragansett Rune stone. And those are my old photos on the plaque. And the photo with cm scale bar is the first published photo of the Narragansett Stone, taken by your's truly.....

The Narragansett Stone was stolen and dumped in deeper waters of the bay. But it was recovered. Wickford is not an especially long ride from northeast Ct. So, if such things interest you, pay the Narragansett Stone a visit some day.

I disagree that they are natural from my perspective because the ad mark is cut in the material in a depth .Have traces in cavity before with color pencil and it shows up perfectly. On 135 mark is not a traditional carving but more of a extraction of material and what left behind is the darker material in a form of a number or letter.Being as observant as I am on this piece that I have a second marking on it of a ur mark on bottom left of piece using the same concept. The top mark of 135 has two letters surrounding it that are UR in the silver colors material try creating on paper with pencil and you can see the separation of UR and 135,but used two different colors pencils.

This is just a theory but it is very possible that it was made here or in the middle east.Have read the prophet Abraham was a chaldean and was born in UR and left the area to go to Canaan. The time line of 135 was the second revolt to the Roman's and the second temple was destroyed and the people were exile to other locations in the world.Possibly the knight templers Carrie it in the escape from the destruction of the temple. Just a theory that all.

Well, your perspective, as you call it, is the perspective of someone who has not learned how to distinguish geological processing marks and weathering marks, from man made markings. The most amazing thing to me is that it truly does seem like you are someone who does not know what learning is. You're going on and on with this, apparently clueless that you have absolutely no idea what you're talking about. Go bring your rocks to a geologist and an archaeologist specializing in petroglyphs. Then, when they tell you the truth, explain to then how you know better.

I was reading this thread and am actually amazed at the composure of members trying to explain things to the OP. I don't have that kind of patience.
