Looks like a fossil to me on the top view, bottom view does not suggest it as much though. Certainly an oddity.

Looks like creek sediment with some iron ore matrix attached to it. typical creek rock from my area. I bet if you crack it it would be chalky grainy substance in the middle. It could also be mud stone.
