The color looks like amethyst. It's probably a piece of quartz. Need more info. It sure would be nice to be an immense sapphire.

It looks like quartz that has manganese (gives it the violet color) in it.... which then makes it Amethyst.

Amethyst indeed. Gets the colour from iron, though.
