Hello all,

I'm not new to rock collecting, but have no knowledge about indentifying rocks.

These few black rocks are extremely hard. I couldn't break them with a hammer. I tested them on concrete and the marks were white. All of them have this strange white rock crusted on the outside. In a certain light some parts are slightly shiny.

These rocks to me look like they are rusty. Very dull looking rocks.

I know these are very common, but I've never seen one this big. Is this a type of quartz?

Is this a type of sandstone? I found it in a lake. It's very eroded, it crumbles very easily, even more so in water.

I know this is a rock that has a lot going on. I do believe there is a little bit of quartz crystal in some of holes in the rock as well as the white stripe running through it.

Any help would be appreciated. Thank you!
