Propst Farm has produced many Corundum crystals in the past and even some very large specimens. The majority of the specimens are low-grade material although some nice cabochon material has been found. This is a typical specimen with a nicely saturated pink-purple color. Many locals consider this material "Ruby" but I personally would never classify it as such.

I've picked out a bit of that stuff myself in NC doing the fee farms up around Grandfather Mountian on the blue ridge. Might be salted stuff but bits with good form are said to make star ruby cabs. There's an old post somewhere here in this forum of a brilliant pink one found by a member who was fishing and looked down. Might see if I can find that post and link it.
