Howdy everyone!

I was given a pile of what was thought to be amber. Used the salt water test and guess what!?!... nothing floated. So my question is, if its not amber, what is it?

They're kinda heavy but they all have the amber color when you shine the light on them. I thought maybe glass but there seems to be something inside? initially this was thought to be a "bug or stick or something" but since its not genuine amber, that seems unlikely. Give me your honest opinions... or your dishonest opinions either way.

In western Oregon, that would be a common river agate. If the color is not staining, what you have is sometimes called carnelian.

Time for more coffee.

I googled images of carnelian and... *BAM* we have a match!
Thanks for the help! I had a feeling it was some kind of stone so I figured if there was anywhere I could go to find an answer, it'd be here.
