If my memory serves me I think there are giant Megalodon teeth at the bottom of that river. You might want to ask the locals

Here is some i have on the Congaree River.

Confederate Treasure

On the Congaree River, nearly two miles north of Sandy Run, Confederate supply boats were said to have been ambushed on December 12, 1864. One boat with $125,000 in gold coins and ingots was overturned and lost its contents in the water.
(Unknown if this legend is true. There is no evidence of this in the "Official Records of the War of the Rebellion")

General Sherman is supposed to to have dumped hundreds of Confederate weapons in the Congaree by the Gervais Street bridge in Feb. 1865.

Charles,
Sorry i left that information out. Sandy Run is just south of Columbia. I could not find the town on the map,but it is near the town of Gaston. Email me if you need specific directions to Sandy Run. I know the area, my grandmother lives there.

BTW the Gervais Street bridge is in Columbia.
