    Another ship lost by fire

A small steamer was lost by fire a few miles from Donaldsonville... She was loaded with 500 bales of cotton, 90 hogshead of sugar etc... On 60 passengers, more than 40 lost their life.

There was also on board US$ 50.000 belonging to several banks from New Orleans.

Was this just recently, or something long ago. I tried searching the internet and didn't find anything. Do you have a link?

Re: Another ship lost by fire

Just found this post and was looking into it a bit. The big problem is that the river there has been heavily dredged, and there are huge levees on both sides. Not much chance of finding it unless it was in an older channel that is filled in now.
    Oooooo........ Shiny!
