Dr. Bob Baer has a new book on the Miguel de Archangel coming out from Signum Ops in the next several months and I have been building some models of a prototypical aviso for use in certain technical illustrations in the book... added some screenshots here including one of the boat sailing OUT of the current inlet, where, in fact, it may have wrecked to start off with. This will be one of those books all wreckers and salvors will want to read.

Yep, an e-book, a grayscale, and probably a color version for those who want to pay for it...

Meanwhile, could be Jack Sparrow... naw, that's the girl "face-foreward" figure that is included in Sketch Up. Everytime I do any investigation on pirates, they usually end up in canoes, pinnaces or some other kind of dinky boat, most of the time. Pretty much like those flakes in Somalia. Long on guts, short on brains.

Guts works most of the time. Watch out for those with guts AND brains!
