ROCKPORT, Ont. -- A man is dead following an ice-diving accident in Rockport, southeast of Brockville, Ont.

Provincial police say two male divers were at a popular shipwreck site on Sunday more than 200 metres from shore and 27 m underwater.

Const. Stacey Cooper says the pair made it to the ship, but there was a problem with the return.

Cooper says it's believed there was a problem with one diver's regulator, and his partner's attempt to help with his backup regulator was unsuccessful.

Another group of recreational divers from New Jersey was able to locate the body, but neither the group nor the diving partner was able to recover it.
