Shipwreck Archaeology Project

The Spanish Ministry of Foreign Affairs has Issued a Press Release
indicating the successful conclusion of negotiations relating to HMS Sussex

Tampa, FL, March 26, 2007 - Odyssey Marine Exploration Inc. (AMEX:
OMR), a leader in the field of deep-ocean shipwreck exploration, is pleased
to publicly announce the conclusion of diplomatic negotiations for the
archaeological project related to the shipwreck of HMS Sussex lost in
1694.

A meeting of experts from the United Kingdom, the Junta of Andalucía
and Odyssey Marine Exploration last week convened in Seville, Spain to
discuss the archaeological plan related to HMS Sussex. After the
meeting's successful conclusion, the Spanish Ministry of Foreign Affairs
issued a press release, the English translation of which follows.

PRESS NOTE

Agreement between Spain and the United Kingdom to carry out an
underwater survey for the identification of the wreck of HMS Sussex

Twenty-third of March 2007. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and
Cooperation has the pleasure of announcing that Spain and the United Kingdom
have reached an agreement in order to proceed to carry out an underwater
archaeological survey in waters of the Alboran Sea for the
identification of the wreck corresponding to HMS Sussex, a sovereign vessel of the
English flag that shipwrecked in said sea in 1694.

This project, which will be carried out by the company Odyssey Marine
Exploration, will follow rigorous archaeological protocols. The Junta de
Andalucía will participate in it. Prior to the commencement of
operations, a coordination meeting is scheduled for today between specialists
nominated by the British Ministry of Defense and the Junta de
Andalucía. Periodic coordination meetings are also scheduled to be held whilst
the operations are being carried out. The Junta de Andalucía will name
archaeologists to participate in said project. This participation by
the Junta is intended to ensure that the project complies with all the
applicable laws relating to the due protection of underwater cultural
heritage.

The company Odyssey Marine Exploration, registered in the United States
and having an exclusive contract with the Government of the United
Kingdom for the archaeological project of the HMS Sussex, will carry out
operations aimed at locating said shipwreck by virtue of the agreement
reached.

In the event that it is proven that the ship is HMS Sussex, Spain will
recognize that the wreck, its appurtenances and contents are the
property of the United Kingdom by virtue of the rules of applicable
International Law.

The issuance of this release signals the public announcement of the
conclusion to sensitive diplomatic negotiations that have been taking
place since Odyssey suspended operations at the site believed to be HMS
Sussex near the straits of Gibraltar last spring.

HMS Sussex was an 80-gun English warship lost in a severe storm in the
western Mediterranean in 1694. Research suggests the Sussex was
carrying a large cargo of coins when she sank. Odyssey believes it has located
the shipwreck of HMS Sussex and has signed an exclusive partnering
agreement with the legal owner of the shipwreck, the Government of the
United Kingdom, for the archaeological excavation of the shipwreck.

Odyssey just arrested another ship (Bristol Project).

The Defendant Shipwrecked Vessel is believed to be an Italian-registered passenger ship lying at a depth of approximately 500 meters in international waters approximately 65 miles southeast of Sardinia in the Mediterranean Sea (hereinafter referred to as the Salvage Area). Upon information and belief, no extant entity or person presently claims any ownership interest in the Defendant Shipwrecked Vessel. Evidence at the site indicates that efforts, if any, by any previous owner to salvage the shipwreck and/or its cargo have been long since abandoned. The value of the Defendant Shipwrecked Vessel cannot be estimated at this time.

The stock closed at $4.16 per share yesterday, up 5.85% from the day before. Hmmmm, seems not everyone agrees with Doc on this one.
Doc, I got the same type of scepticism when I wanted to sell all my IBM stock to invest in a small company operating out of a dorm room at the University of Texas at Austin run by some drop out named Mike Dell.

Jeff - hate to say it that I have to agree with Doc. I too saw the Odyssey explorer leaving port and heading out to the Atlantic. Questions:

Right after the press release allowing OMR to recover Sussex - why was there no trace of ship for several days/weeks?

Then both the Odyssey Explorer and Ocean Alert miraculously turned up at port in Gib? Possibly turned of transponders while over Sussex site recovering booty?

Odyssey Explorer headed out to Atlantic - possibly brinking the loot back to its rightful owner jolly ole England?

Funny to see that when someone questions Doc's AIS link he stands up for himself and bashes naysayers. When I mentioned on Historyhunters.org that I saw the Explorer at Ramsgate back when it was going to Hull for repairs - I was told I had no clue what I was talking about by he and his crew over there. And when I told them that I was not imagining what I saw I was promtly banned from the site - unreal. Doc you should be ashamed.

This is exactly what I am talking about. I know what I saw. Was docked in Ramsgate and its icon was red. What would it matter to me where it was when we all knew it was headed into drydock for repairs? I was simply making an observation and hopfully being helpful by posting it. What would be the point of me giving a false location? Possible AIS was incorrect? Instead - was told I have no idea what I am talking about and indicated I was lying about what I observed. I posted to refute and was promptly banned. Great website - lol.

I have been reading this BASHING for several months now and thought I would add my thoughts for what they are worth.
What is all the concern over what is going on outside the U.S..
If you own stock then you hope to make a profit. If you do not own stock then what difference does it make.
We are all adults here and are able to make up our own minds.
If we want to purchase shares in this venture then have at it and if we do not then that is fine also.
If this turns out to be a scam it will not be the first or the last scam to ever happen to the Treasure Hunting world.
OPINIONS ARE LIKE BUTT HOLES EVERBODY HAS ONE.

Too much ego! I don't know and I am glad that I don't know. Some people need to remind everyone that they are the smartest. Too much drama. I have said it before and I will say it again. If all of the brilliant minds in this forum could come together there would be so much treasure found that there would be enough to share with all of us. It's just sad.

sirfrancis... I see no reason not to believe them. This was the admiral's ship, so at the very least the payroll for the fleet was onboard.

Ole Doc is reporting on the Yahoo board that the Alert has headed west into the Atlantic, but I am am still seeing her docked at Gib on the AIS screen. Can someone please take a look and confirm that I am not seeing things.

Could it be a simple case of they have been given green status and informed people that they are underway but have suddenly been delayed by something?

means nothing to me either way to be honest but i know on more than one occassion that i have said im going to do something and then something else has cropped up last minute and i havent had time to let people know, so they think im over there doing that initial something instead of the "sudden" something - sorry that paragraph no longer makes any sense to me either!! :-[
