In 1938 an attempt was made to salvage the reported treasure. Only one gold bar was found.

i have a book on the lutine and as a younger lad, i have several times wondered about trying to go after it, the main hold back factor is the whole "other side of the atlantic" thing

I don't know how younger you are, but me too.

Seems easy, although nothing ever is, but the shifting sands have been beaten by the mailbox and the scale of recovery ships now. Mel tamed the Quicksands.

Europeans have a wonderful fleet of Mighty Ships as well that do everything from install huge offshore wind turbines to assemble drill heads 4000 feet down.

Maybe no one wants to work for Lloyd's since they own the cargo.
