Hello, I dug this small cob yesterday. This is the second cob I've found at this site, which has seen activity since the 17th century. It appears to be a half reale. It's smaller in diameter than other half reales I've found, but thicker. I've looked around online but haven't seen one that quite matches it. Could someone please provide an estimated date range? Thanks for any help you can provide!

It has similarities to a Mexican 1/2R during the 1620s; like this one:

turn the bottom pic 180 degrees then the crown will appear more easily.
Don....
Don, I appreciate the research. I didn't realize that fish-shaped design was part of the crown! So now I'm wondering if this has been clipped down a lot, as it's missing so much of the design (on the other hand, the minting process was rather crude). There are definite similarities between my cob and the one in your link. Thanks again.

Jason,
Its Charles II - Mid 1660s to 1700 - Mexico mint. (my 1/2 reales worth) of a guess.
The curved line below the crown...dead give away. Here is what it would look like with more of the Monogram showing and less curved line below crown.
Nice find.

Trez, thanks so much! That looks like a perfect match. Now I can label it with some details. I appreciate your assistance!
