Marc's Stock Pick
Posted Aug 03, 2009:
If I was going to pick a stock right now it would be GE...
http://www.google.com/finance?q=ge (quote as of this post $13.62 a share)
Someone want to loan me a few bucks?
Reasons?
1. We ARE going to see more electric devices and vehicles...
2. http://www.greenchipstocks.com/artic...-companies/173
3. VERY little downside risk IMHO.

Re: Marc's Stock Pick
I agree Marc, GE is a great value pick right now. I bought into it at an average cost per share of around $9 and change, and it's done very well since. Add to your list of reasons all of the contracts they have secured for aircraft engines and gas powerplant turbines in China, and the potential for that to continue during global economic recovery and you've got a winner.
I would also look strongly at BAC, which I am also long term on. Sure, they still hold on bunch of government TARP money, but they will have that paid back in less than a year, and they're earnings potential going forward is monstrous. Best opportunity on the stock market right now, IMHO.
I also like PCH, RAI, NGG and WIN for their very high dividend yields. If you're going to get in the market, now is the time, before you miss this recovery. GLTA!

Re: Marc's Stock Pick
I told a few of my friends to buy Apple stock when it was $9 a share - no one listened.
I think you made a good pick, I see it went up 10¢ since my post! 8)
I will check out the stocks you mentioned a little later! Thanks!

Re: Marc's Stock Pick
I bought in at $10 on GE. Just sold it at $14.70. I think it will dip down again somewhere around $11. So I'll pick it up all over again there. But I do believe 5 + years from now it will be a strong one.

Re: Marc's Stock Pick
I wouldn't buy GE stock or their products knowingly. Until just recently they sold electronics to the Iranians that wound up in Iraq killing our soldiers. I don't need the money that bad but I don't begrudge the purchase by others. It's just my personal feelings on the matter. Monty

Re: Marc's Stock Pick
Well, I don't know about that Monty, there must be a LOT of companies who have done business with Iran. We shouldn't shoot ourselves in the foot (by dissing one of our major employers/corporations) IMHO
Anyway, you would have made a few bucks... GE stock was just mentioned on CNBC - OVER $15!

One of these days, I'll have a few bucks to invest!

Re: Marc's Stock Pick
Closed at $16 even today. This will be a $40 stock within 2 years IF this economic recovery proves to be real.

Re: Marc's Stock Pick
GE has been a dog compared to many stocks in the same time frame. Not to mention many of the companys that have done much better do not do business with Iran ... Not to mention that Immelt is a pretty sorry person... But other than that, GE is a fine company ..
