I am kinda new to the hobby and have a couple old farm steads and been pulling good coins out of one but not the other. The one that I have found nothing is older but still standing. The other is an alphalfa field. Does the vegetation that is laid over affect the readings of the machine? I would expect it would but not sure.

The one I'm getting skunked in is a undisturbed yard wouldn't think there's much fertilizer. There are cattle around it. Do I need to add to the balance or subtract?
