How Metal Detectors Work
I've seen this question asked a number of times, so when I bumped into this I thought it would of interest to all. It is a very well done piece on how the different types of MDs work with some great animations, details, etc.

My new BH has a couple of paragraphs in the owners manual that explains it in language easy to understand without getting too technical.

Several books also discuss theory and operation like Modern Metal Detectors by Chas Garrett and many of the instructional videos give a brief description as well. Jim Cal
