Don't know much about IR for treasure hunting, but the SEEK Thermal camera is now available for Android type smartphones. They have to wait for Apple to give their stamp of approval for iPhones, but the Androids are shipping. Of course there are always going to be the negative comments from the competitors, many good reports, reviews, and ratings.

Also noticed FLIR One lowered their prices to $250. Their camera has some enhancement for the edges and superimpose it onto the photo so it makes it much easier to recognize what you are viewing. But the amount of info is much lower with the FLIR One.

Sorry, don't have any photos. There are plenty on-line.

There is a feature on the SEEK Thermal camera I think might be quite useful--it's a temperature cut-off sort of like the old discrimination control on a metal detector. You set the cut-off temp and it will only display what is above that temp.

There is a post about digital cameras can see gold. You can point a TV remote control at a digital camera and you can see the light coming out. Try that with a thermal camera and you see nothing because the thermal camera senses long wave IR. So yeah, the digital camera everyone wants to believe they work. Good luck wasting your time and money and patience.

Will the thermal cameras work to find gold? I don't know but they beat the tar out of those IR thermometers.
