I have had my new MD for about a month and for some reason I get a weak signal when doing an air test with a morgan dollar. Sens set to max and i get single beep maybe at 7 inches, yet i take my 14k ring off which weighs 13.5g and im getting much strong beeps usually a beep beep when waiving it by at 9 inches or so. Maybe its just gold is more conductive or something, IDK. But the coin is almost twice the mass as my ring, I would think more mass = better stronger signal, yes? IDK help thnx.

All machines react differently with air testing. Its not really a good judge. You have a great machine!

I agree with Bart you have a good detector and pinpointing is easy.

personally,i would rely on a ground check in a hole more than an air check.

The first thing I did years back was air test my detector. Then someone posted, "Why do people air test anyway. You find coins in the ground NOT in the air." Just cracked me up!!!!!!
