Coil Help

I have a Silver and Golden uMax. I currently own 4". 5.75", 9x 8", and the 3" x 18" coils. I was curious about the 11" round widescan, and the 12 x 10" concentric coils. The 12 x 10 sound nice but I'm not sure about the weight? Also, do you really see much of an increase in depth with the larger coils? To those of you that have tried the 3 x 18 and the 12 x 10, which do you prefer? I mainly hunt in good ground, coin and jewelry hunting.

The 3X18" Clean Sweep Coil is not really very deep, but does cover a lot of ground in a short amount of time without the extra weight. Sure you get a little increase in depth but you also cover more area per sweep and a chance of getting more than one target under the coil at once. The CSC covers ground too, but is hot just down the center like a DD coil like it is.

I have not used the 3X18 or any DD coil.

I have used the 12X10 concentric coil.

The 12X10 does not give much increase
of depth on coins. It is much less sensative
to small objects. It is subject to masking
more than any Tesoro coil I have used.

Strong points better coverage and incredable
depth on some objects encountered while relic
or artifact hunting.

A two pound iron object may be recovered
at over 2 feet deep.

If you can find a mini that is not masked, it
can get real good depth.

I only use it after I have cleaned everything
else out. Then I can get depth because of
less masking.

For coin and jewelry hunting, I would not
recomend it.
