Went over to my coworker's house today after work and detected his back yard. The home was built in 1903, and it looked promising at first. My first two holes were wheat cents, so that was encouraging, but I soon realized the yard is nail city! I could hardly find a place to ground balance.

I'm using the 6x10 on my White's, (it's my smallest coil) and although it's not bad for trash separation, there is WAY too much iron in that yard to really feel confident that I'm not missing stuff.

Looking forward to testing out the 5.75" Compadre and the legendary Tesoro discrimination. The soil is very rocky and all the coins I found with the M6 were less than 4 inches, so I'm not concerned with any loss of depth. Should have a chance to hit it again sometime this weekend. Wish me luck! :icon_thumleft:

Good luck! That 5.75 Compadre should do well there.

Oh yeah.
Perfect tool for the job.
And yes, disc is the best.
Anything you disc out won't make a sound.
Pick one of the nails and disc that out to with a chirp or totally out and have fun!!

Nice choice and happy hunting!!

I kinda forgot about this thread, guys. Sorry. :laughing7:

I did, in fact, go hit his yard again with the Compadre. The hype about the Tesoro discrimination is no lie. The little coil did a fantastic job cutting through the heaps of nails, and I pulled out several coins that I didn't even hear with my White's, and I know that machine very well. I can't say how the M6 would have performed with a similarly sized coil. I think it probably would have done pretty well.

Only got about 1/4 of his yard done this time, though, because every two minutes he was wanting to BS and drink beer with me. What do ya do? Lol. I really love my Compadre, though. I have been using the bejeezus out of it lately.
