Dimmitt of Victria county

Has anyone ever heard any stories related to Phillip Dimmitt? He was granted land near Victoria and was a major player in the Tx Revolution. He operated trading posts in the area at the time of his death while in captivity in Mexico. I am just wondering since he never made it back to Tx did he leave anything behind that was not known to others.

If you could find Dimmitt's Landing pier or where it was on the West Bank of the lavaca river near the mouth of they bay, you may find some cool things.

I know where it once was, but it's highly visible with a large home very near. And on a very thriving oil,gas and ranch land. Bummer. But it would be awesome.
