c1910 ROYCROFTERS Solid Copper Penholder

Poking around some small mountain towns I spotted this ROYCROFTERS mark copper jobbo. Was less than $20 and like new. Brought it home (I collect stuff) looked it up and last sale I could find was $350 or more. Hand hammered copper was their trademark. Lamps, desk items yopu name it. Not so popular anymore uunless you are a collector. It was a Good day...

Nice find. I'd like to stumble across a piece of furniture someday made by Roycroft.

Nice arts & crafts piece. Roycroft pieces are hard to find in the wild, I have yet to spot one. Seen a few at shows, but that's it.

Some history: (taken from the below referenced site)
The Roycroft Shops made books, copper products (such as bookends, ash trays, and letter openers), and furniture (in the Mission, or Arts & Crafts, style) at the turn of the 19th Century, starting in 1895. The shops went into decline when Hubbard and his second wife, Alice, died on the Lusitania. This group (referenced below) discusses the Roycrofters, their products and their philosophy.

They are referred to as "Roycroft" pieces.
Never Royrofters...
Roycrofters are what the newer stuff is often referred to... which is being made... as we speak here...
They are the artisians that have carried on the Roycroft traditions and styles etc.
