Large Antique Bird Cage

My wife and I picked up this bird cage last nite at Goodwill. We knew it was old, but we were surprised to see that the last one in similar condition sold on Ebay for 299 and 60 shipping! It was definitely stored in a barn for a long time, so some much needed toothbrushing and rinsing has taken up my morning..and afternoon.

Thanks! We like it too, but money is really tight rite now, so we're not sure if we can keep it or not yet. It does look super awesome tho!

Victorian bird cage, saw some but not this complex. Beauty it is for sure. Congrats on this find!

That would make a great display piece. I can see having ivy growing up in it. That is really a beauty.

Your bird cage isn't all that old imo. I believe they're newer imported pieces sold through. import wholesale outlets, antique shops and flea markets where I've seen them sold from time to time. They give them a faux rustic finish to make them look old.

Thank you! The paint coat behavior and the condition of the wood and metal wire say age to me, but I def have something to look into now to be sure!
