I found this pin in a jewelry jar from a local thrift and I’m not having any luck identifying it. I am guessing it is military related but would appreciate any help in getting I.D.
The pin is roughly the size of a penny. It shows what I assume is St. George slaying the dragon with a 38 across (38th regiment/division?) and a cross on top with the Greek letters Sigma, Alpha, Gamma. Attached via a chain is a V pin/device with the 1943 across it. I assume the V signifies victory or a valor award in 1943?
The pin is gold tone but was acid tested and is not gold.
